CAMERA ROLL

At last, I have been able to catch up on a few of those jobs that I have needed to do for ages, but was too busy to find five minutes! The most exciting of these jobs was sorting out our new window display pictures, which have been printed by the lovely people at John E Wright in Derby. Soon to be unveiled!

Steve has had the studio lights out with him on location this week, so I’ve been busy getting orders out to clients and editing from the weekend, including photography from a wedding vow renewal ceremony with a really lovely family in Mickleover, Derby, on Saturday. And there are two gigantic canvas prints from family portrait sessions, all cosy in their bubble wrap, waiting to be collected as I write.

On the PR and commercial photography front, Steve has certainly clocked up the miles this week, starting with a two-day shoot in Cumbria. Lots of people think that being a photographer is quite glamorous and, while it does (occasionally) have its moments, sometimes even less exciting things need photographing – an ingenious new type of plasterboard in this case!

After a flying visit to Derby and Birmingham to photograph an NHS training event, he then headed off down to Essex where he was booked to provide corporate awards night photography. He has also seen the launch of a new eco-house this week as well as various client meetings about upcoming projects.

We’ve got another busy weekend ahead, with appointments and viewings in the studio – including a Smash the Cake photoshoot for a little girl’s first birthday, which I’m extremely excited about! Pics to follow soon…

HELEN&ANTHONY

Breadsall Priory wedding photography

Breadsall Priory is one of Derbyshire’s most established wedding venues, with huge gardens and grounds offering plenty of wedding photography options.

Helen and Anthony were married in church before heading to the hotel with their guests after the wedding ceremony. Helen chose pretty pink colours for her flowers and bridesmaids, which look really summery and fresh in their pictures.

Many of the couples we talk to are apprehensive about having their pictures taken on their wedding day, and are worried about feeling self-conscious. The Studio’s wedding photographers have many years’ experience in putting people at ease and making them feel as comfortable as possible in front of the camera. A relaxed photographer means a relaxed bride and groom, able to soak up every precious moment of their wedding day, without worrying about being photographed.

Our wedding photographers are skilled at melting into the background when required, offering subtle direction from time to time, and then stepping up to manage a large group situation in a friendly and efficient manner.

For more information about our wedding photography rates and service, take a look at the rest of our site. You can see more weddings at venues such as Shottle Hall, Derbyshire; Chatsworth, DerbyshireBelvoir Castle, Leicestershire; Fawsley Hall, Northamptonshire; and Masa, Derby, on these news pages.

EMMA&DARREN

Emma and Darren were married in 2012 and chose the gorgeous Fawsley Hall in Northamptonshire as their wedding venue.

The hit-and-miss British weather did not phase the couple and they enjoyed a wonderful, relaxed wedding day with family and friends in the tranquil surroundings of the hotel – and the bouncy castle on the lawn was enjoyed by young and old alike!

We loved the idea of having an enormous gourmet barbeque, instead of a formal wedding breakfast,  to make the most of the gardens. Fawsley Hall is a really versatile venue and our photographers have also provided corporate and PR photography there.

Click to see wedding photography from Masa, Derby; Shottle Hall, Derbyshire; Chatsworth, Derbyshire, and Belvoir Castle, Leicestershire. Browse The Studio’s wedding galleries for more images and wedding inspiration.

WINGING IT

January 22nd, 2013 by

derby city centre wedding photography

WOW! Emily and Frank’s wedding in Derby city centre was certainly one to remember. It wasn’t just the bride who had a shock when an owl swooped in to deliver the rings during their wedding ceremony at Masa!

The owl’s starring role was a very well-kept secret and one that we haven’t seen at a wedding before! Emily and Frank chose the restaurant in a converted chapel as their Derby wedding venue and booked The Studio as their wedding photographers. There were plenty of smiles to go around and the day was filled with family, friends and laughter.

The Studio’s system of charging by the hour for wedding photography was great for this couple as they could tailor their wedding photography package to suit their needs perfectly. Our rates are currently £120 per hour, which includes VAT and a CD of all the high-resolution edited images from the day.

Ideally, if you are planning a surprise at your wedding, such as doves or a pop-up band or choir, you should have a quiet word with your wedding photographer, so that they are aware and ready. However, the great thing about professional and experienced wedding photographers is that they are always ready for anything, whether it is a wink, a cheeky grin or a full jazz band in the back row.

The Studio’s wedding photographers have been lucky enough to photograph some amazing weddings at fabulous venues in the East Midlands, so if you’re getting married, have a browse through our wedding photography galleries and blog posts featuring Shottle Hall, Chatsworth and Belvoir Castle, amongst others.

SUN & SMILES

January 16th, 2013 by

derbyshire wedding photographers

With all the snow and ice around at this time of year, I needed a little reminder of summer and sunshine and warmth. So I had a look through all our weddings from last year and came across the beautiful wedding of Jessica and Adam at Shottle Hall, a fabulous Derbyshire wedding venue in the heart of the countryside.

The couple didn’t want to spend loads of time setting up group photographs, so we kept those to a bare minimum allowing them (and their wedding photographer!) to soak up the glorious Derbyshire summer sunshine.

We love Shottle Hall as a wedding venue, as there is plenty of space to roam around for wedding photography, the countryside is literally a step away.

Jessica & Adam’s wedding was so pretty and certainly one of the smiliest weddings ever!

If you’re planning a wedding at Shottle Hall, or at another venue, get in touch to discuss our wedding photography hourly rates or take a look at our website for more wedding inspiration in Derbyshire and beyond.
